lotsa Mgmt Committee and Board meetings coming up, so been busy writing papers, chasing ppl for status etc. suddenly the arrows come left right and centre. feels good to be useful and busy, time passes faster and i do feel a sense of satisfaction, but oh well, the downside is tt sometimes i tend to get stressed and let everything just overwhelm me, and take it out on tj. sorry dear...
dreary weather, raining yesterday evening and the whole of today! this morn i just wanted to roll in my bed and sleep, but too bad, had tons to do... and i want to take leave next week to rest and go out with tj. 4 or 5 more days! (depends on when exactly he gets to come back lah)
nothing much interesting to blog abt cos v guai always coming home after work to look at work again... oh wellz... haven't been watching much tv too, though i did manage to catch the final episode of project runway. love tt show, love the winner chloe and the clothes she design look fantastic! i guess i'm a big fan of elegant, classy looking evening wear kind clothes, dun like the funky ones too much... check out her write-up, she sounds v passionate abt wat she does. which is more than wat alot of us (including me) can say...
i'm blogging for the sake of blogging i guess. 4 or 5 more days!

brand new look
was sick of the old template since alot of ppl had it, didn't really like the title as well, so it's time for a change.
some of u might find this template familiar, well it's the same one as the smiles one. i chose tt template cos it looks bright and cheery, and i love the extended width so my posts don't look excessively long. and the fonts are bigger too!
changed the title too. modified from one of my fave songs, dancing in the moonlight by toploader. i never fail to smile and cheer up everytime i hear it...
bear with me as i fiddle with the scripts and wat not. someone tell me wat's RSS feed (i'm just an amateur blogger lah). comments/helpful additions welcome!

been busy
well kl was concerned, so i better write an entry. life's fine, been on 11 day orientation, which was fun yet boring. it's boring to sit thru 11 days of mini-lectures, with diff ppl telling u abt wat their dept does... after a while it either gets too technical/chim/boring and at diff times of the day diff ppl will take turns to nod off. but fun cos we get to officially slack, have 2 hour lunch breaks, go around to places tt v few ppl get to go, like the hangars, the apron area of airport, various control centres etc. gonna miss the camaderie of slackers and the slacking process too...
other than tt have been meeting up with friends, esp my jc mates, haven't seen them in a long time esp lynn, who's nice as ever. met up with ps too, she seems unhappy with her job, sighz, do hope she cheers up and hang on in there...
went jb to dye my hair, RM150 plus cut plus treatment, it's now a lovely mahogany brown. and yah they spent like half hour just to blowdry it into curls lor. good svc lah, but took damn long. hehe. happy with my hair!
back to work tm, abit sianz, but yah have to work hard le, cannot slack anymore with all the committee meetings coming up. 9 more days...

goodbye and see you again
never easy saying goodbye, especially to someone who means alot to you, though it's only three weeks (plus 2 weeks of stay-in reservist after tt). do take care in a foreign land, be extra careful when dealing with the chinese and yah, beware of ANY china girls who so much as look in your direction! (paranoid)
so yes, after saying "goodbye", there's always the exciting "see you again" bit. so i'll see you in 3 weeks, have a safe flight both ways, take care and yes, i'll take care of myself too, dun worry...
happy 2nd year in advance

looking backwards and forward
just a re-cap of my weekend:
Friday: went to camp out at esplanade to chope seats for the whole bunch of us to catch the pretty fireworks by team new caledonia (wth is tt country?) was lots of fun, fireworks were amazing (though i still liked team italy's one alot better) and even managed to catch up with jiaxin and ade's friend lifen. we adjourned to DXO after tt, ok lah, free entry and free drinks for ladies, so i'm not complaining, just wished tt ppl were more spontaneous and go dance on the dance floor, rather than hang around it waiting for someone to start the ball rolling. happy b'day jiaxin! hp u enjoyed it spending it with us cheapos who go unhappening places to drink free drinks! yun pass me the pics soon! tj gave me this lovely and sweet present. love it to bits. thank you dear!
Saturday: blading at noon, still arnd the same speed but i'm proud to note tt i didn't fall down this time! lazed arnd at tj's house then went to taka to eat Crystal Jade Ginseng Chicken BBQ! yummy and way too much food! haha, i want to link it in this post, but blogger doesn't allow tt somehow, so just go "eat's all F.A.T.E" from the sidebar to check it out!
to whet your appetite

sunday: spent the afternoon at home watching tv, helping dad out, chatting with family etc. went serangoon garden market to buy 100 sticks of katong satay (i swear this is MUCH better than city satay, the gravy is so yummy and comes with lots of peanuts!) then we proceeded to tj's house for a gathering, his parents old friends were back from England, a Duke Lieutanent (one ranking lower than Lord)! haha i know royalty! and the family tt took care of tj when he was in Calgary also came. to celebrate the arrival of royalty, auntie xiang lian made this super yummilicious laksa! she made the laksa gravy, fish balls and fish cake from scratch! fantastic i tell u, no wonder she doesn't like to go outside to eat. too bad i dun have any pics of it to post. and as usual there was popiah and too much food, so i tabao alot home. haha. why? cos my fridge got more space than tj's house.
week ahead: won't be seeing me on msn much, cos i'm on orientation the whole of the next two weeks, just going arnd various locations/depts to hear them talk abt themselves and learn more abt the organisation as a whole. interesting to meet so many ppl but i swear it's more draining than actually working. tj's going to china sometime on wednesday. flight and all not confirmed yet, but his boss is adamant so i guess yah he's going. he's not gonna be arnd for our 2nd year anniv though =( but gotta get used to not having him arnd le. and be strong. for him and for me.

Re-connecting
Wonderful picnic at east coast yesterday evening, but we only realized quite late that this year we can’t see fireworks from east coast cos parade is at stadium and not padang (last year we managed to catch fireworks at east coast). Doesn’t stop it from being a lovely night, bright round moon, strong sea breeze, and yummy (too much) food. Great feeling to just lie there, relax, laugh at each other’s jokes and silliness, and enjoying each other’s company. Top tt off with a refreshing ice-cold Tiger beer and our evening is complete. Ooh and I had yummy cookies spelt out in my name waiting for me at home! Thanks Yun! I've ate CAR, now LIN is left for tea break hehe.
Not that we weren’t connected lah, just like batteries, we also need to recharge our r/s also. Hehe. And yes, simple acts like peeling longans and removing the seeds for me just melt my heart (he also peels prawns for me lor…)
Yes, I’m a lucky girl =)

Smiles
Friends and I have come up with a photoblog site, Smiling People are Happy. I can’t seem to add links to my entries in the office, so please refer to the sidebar for the link. We’re still having teething problems so please be patient. Will advertise for it more when the blog is more presentable. Darn it I really should learn how to use photoshop (or at least just get the bloody software first).
Was scrolling through random blogs (due to absolute boredom) and looking at pictures of smiling people. And realized that the camera, like the mirror can be unforgiving. While the mirror reveals imperfections like wrinkles, the camera reveals in tt split second, the general mood of the person. Yes, we usually smile when we pose for pictures, but yet there can be many different kinds of smiles: genuine beaming ones, wry, sinister, with a tinge of uncertainty/sadness/confusion etc.
Remember watching a documentary on Discovery eons ago, can’t even remember the title. It was interesting, they looked at the photos of high school girls in their yearbook. One girl was beaming, radiant and in her eyes you could tell she was looking forward to a bright future filled with happiness. The other girl was smiling no doubt, but there was this tinge of sadness and cynicism that was apparent even to me, the television viewer.
So after forty years these women were now in their fifties, and Discovery tracked them down, and interviewed them to ask what happened in their lives etc.
The first old lady married her high school sweetheart soon after graduation, supported him thru med school, stayed home and took care of their children who have since grown up and started their own families. She and her husband have a loving relationship with a close-knit family, and from the interview the look from her eyes, the same radiant look was still there, even though her face was now lined with experience. She was at peace with herself.
The second one married too, but it was a tumultuous relationship that ended in divorce, and she ended up having to single-handedly bring up her children, who eventually became delinquent/criminal etc. (you have to pardon my memory, but the gist is there) During the interview you could tell she became this cynical old lady, but you can’t blame her cos her life wasn’t smooth-sailing.
The conclusion from that was that even though your mouth is smiling, it is the eyes you need to focus on to tell if the person is genuinely smiling and happy. And you can tell/predict the outcome of a person’s life just by looking at his/her eyes during a snapshot.
I totally agree with the first statement. When I look at photos from the past when I was going through unhappy moments, though I was smiling there was still this sad look in my eyes, and because of tt I didn’t look pretty. (it was a makeover shoot, I had perfect hair and makeup but I still didn’t look good and couldn’t relax during the shoot. Photographer said I looked fierce in a lot of shots, I agreed.) During happier times, I had this radiant look in my photos (quote tj, I don’t make stuff like this up). I think the smiley happy eyes still can be detected in majority of my photos (correct me if I’m wrong)
For the second statement, well I find that a hasty judgment. We all have off days in which we’re tired/sad/not feeling well, and naturally that will affect our mood during the day of the photo-taking. But I also do notice tt some of my friends tend not to smile, or not smile widely in their photos. Please do! It makes you look younger, prettier and happier. And guys, I dunno why but they just dunno how to smile.
S.M.I.L.E! It makes the world a brighter place.
(as you can tell, I’m bored, hence this unnecessarily long essay)

how close shd u get?
interesting weekend to say the least. blading again on sat morn. am please to note tt i am improving. all i need to learn now is to figure out how to stop. very impt skill i tell u.
so yes, a series of circumstances led me to end up watching fireworks with tj and his family. in total there were 7 of us. tj and i went earlier to chope seats, pretty good ones i might add, but yah, after a whole lot of unhappy incidents i've finally figured out tt becoming too close to his family is never good. they are nice ppl and they like me and treat me well, and i've always been taught to respect my elders, not to mention tt they're tj's parents, but yet...
i mean i eat dinner with them at their house once in a while. i get invited to family functions, we go to east coast park tgt once in a while, go shopping even... but yah, when the family starts to interfer with my alone time with tj, then i guess we shd start getting worried... this has happened b4, but i guess i never really learnt my lesson. doesn't make me respect them less, for taking care of tj and producing such a fine young man... and i dun wanna take him away from them, but yet there has to be a balance, or it'll be v unhealthy for our r/s.
so yes, please understand when i say tt i don't wanna spend tt much time with ur family. they mean alot to u and i understand tt totally. but yah, i guess u know wat i mean...

National Day Month
in s'pore, national day holiday is only one day, august 9. once an impt day for me, once a day to cause me anguish, now a day for me to enjoy fireworks. ever since maybe 2 or 3 years ago, s'pore started having this fireworks festival every august, getting teams from different parts of the world to come up with brilliant fireworks display, ever since tt the fireworks festival has been sort of a staple, and in true s'pore spirit, every year sees teams trying to outdo the previous one. not tt i'm actually complaining, i LOVE fireworks, the transient beauty, the way it lights up the entire sky, the way it can make the young and the elderly stop and go WOW... and the way the scent of smoke lingers after the performance, reminding you tt something amazing just happened, making you just want more... but of course the giam siap part of me always wonders how much $$$ the gahmen is spending on all these...
but this is not really a post on fireworks, though i suspect in the days to come there'll be alot of pictures of fireworks... but yah, my National Day month just started, was a busy week this week, 1 management committee meeting, 1 board meeting (so in like 2 days i got to see ALOT of big shots and even attend a meeting with CEO in the posh board room...)wed attended training with management pilots (quite a cool bunch who don't always talk politically correctly), with smaller fries (who are oh so funny), attended fire warden course (fire chemistry, classes of fires, types of extinguishers, evacuation of paths, and how to operate a fire extinguisher (fun but i suck at tt btw)) and now it's friday!!! boss not arnd cos he's conducting training, so tt's y i'm happily blogging now.
will be happily free the next three weeks, as in dunnid to do work. next week my boss and secretary all on leave, she's going to cape town with her family for holiday! *envy* so i'm the only person left to jaga the whole dept. following two weeks i'm on orientation, so will just go arnd different places to visit and find out more abt the operations of this gigantic organisation, hopefully tt makes me feel more like i belong. it's so freaking huge tt it takes a while for me to get used to, but it's getting better liao...
the weekend is here! more fireworks, national day holiday next week etc, so tt shd be fun. too bad my family not organising our annual national day bbq this time arnd cos of bad timing... cos for the longest time i've been associating national day with bbq! hehe... i just love food.
speaking of food, friend and i have started a food blog. it's still in it's initial stages, and i haven't actually posted anything yet. the link is in the sidebar, so go check it out if u're free. and if any of u are interested to contribute, feel free to contact me, then i'll pass u the passwords and wat not. food is good, but makes me spend money!!! and i need to save up for a gift for a special person later this mth... suggestions anybody?

NDP Preview
haha ok kinda late post, but it's kinda a busy week, tiring but super fun weekend...
went for NDP preview on Saturday, was part of NDP 1999 (back in J1), but was never part of the audience. Cha managed to get tics for 4, so it was cha, wj (her bf), cheryl and me. was fun getting there, seeing huge masses of ppl wearing red. on ndp day, whoever wearing red IS going to the stadium...
i'm not gonna comment much of the parade, cheryl and i were pretty bored during the pre-parade segments and much of the contingent march-passes. boring lah, hot, kinda hungry, dun dare to drink too much water cos don't wanna go to portaloo or super dirty toilet. you get my drift... but yes, being part of the kallang wave for the first time is a wonderful feeling.
after the parade started, which by tt i mean the actual shows + colourful costumes + lights + fireworks spectacular, i started to get more trigger happy. which is good and bad, while i got pictures it meant tt i couldn't enjoy and soak in the entire atmosphere to the max. but it was nice to see all the sparkling torchlights in the dark swaying to the national day songs... i still like the classic ones like count on me s'pore, stand up for s'pore and my fave: Home (by kit chan) never fails to make me all emotional inside.
pics!!!!!

some woman on a balloon, v graceful

parachutes with red trailing smoke (i dunno if this is the correct direction though, it looks like maybe it's the wrong way up)

lots of ppl wearing red in the kallang stadium, the last time ndp will be held here

flag flying past during national anthem

some b'day cake thingie, it so happened tt the middle fireworks came up when i pressed the button

my fave fireworks picture of the night. learnt the hard way not to ever use flash...
after NDP i had to rush off to zouk to meet yun, ade, del and jas... tj was supposed to pick me up at paya lebar mrt after we make our way there. alas, we took 1 bloody hour to walk to kallang mrt (too many wrong turns following wrong directions from well-meaninged matas) so it was a mad rush to bathe, get dressed, have dinner etc. then rush there b4 11 (if not no free entry). overall a fun experience, got quite high drinking long island ice tea cos i kept losing in the drinking games we played. haha. music at phuture was those cute jappy kinds, v hard to dance to but we couldn't resist coming up with kawaii moves... and at zouk it was slightly better but we were close to this gang indians so we ended up imitating their bollywood moves! and i think they caught us doing tt a couple of times (so paiseh) old liao, dun like to dance to strange sounding music, so we adjourned to checkers for supper. first real food for the day. all in all a hectic but fun saturday! so much so tt i didn't have any energy for sunday at all... zzzzzzzzz

The name of the restaurant opened by TJ's bandmate Christin, only 6 days old. We were meeting Grace and Jeremiah (J) and J suggested going there to support. Since we had no better suggestion, we went.

J told me it was a dessert place. Went there not expecting such a posh looking place. Flowers were still placed outside, indicating it's new-ness. We sat down, and started looking at the menu. Lady Boss Christin came and introduced herself, catch up with TJ and J, and recommended some items too. Seeing as we already ate dinner, we decided not to go crazy with the main courses but just order a few to share.

From top to bottom: potato salad, grace and j with cheese fondue, our main course: stuffed portobello mushroom
Potato salad was good, using new potatoes and yummy minced bacon fried until crispy. Stupid generic bacon bits sold in the supermarkets cannot beat this... Never had fondue before, this cheese one is pretty nice, thick and has this bitter aftertaste of alcohol (kirsch, if i spell it correctly)it comes with bread cubes, pear, green and red apples. the tart sweetness of the fruits matched v well with the cheese. finally the stuffed portobello mushroom. portobellos aren't usually so small, some seasonal issue, so we got two. it was stuffed with chicken etc. dun really know wat went into it. you could really tasted the original flavours of the chicken and mushroom, lightly seasoned with rosemary. it came with truffle mashed potatoes (v good and hand-mashed w/o any milk powder taste) and some veggies. good for ladies (healthy!)
Desserts!

I am suaku, never eat fondue before. Liked the dark chocolate fondue here. And here comes my fave item of the day: Lemon Souffle. Never eaten souffle before (ok this is repeating itself, i'm a suaku). When it was served, i tot it was some cocktail. Turned out to be a dessert. Light, lightly sweetened, with the tangy tart flavours of lemon. you can still taste the tiny lemon zest bits. and it comes topped with strawberries and homemade whipped cream. yummy!
They're still new, settling in and fine-tuning their menu. Christin tells us tt the rib-eye steak and the butterfish steak are highly recommended by customers. like this place so much tt i have persuaded my jc classmates to have our gathering there. must show support mah. cos it's good food, reasonably prices, nice decor and nice music too...
Here are the four of us who went:

Had a great time Grace and J, nice to catch up! We should do it often. Thanks J for giving us a ride back, and sorry tt you ended up being summoned (parking).
p.s. been reading a few food blogs recently, kinda inspired. but don't think i'm doing a good job. haha!

The Lake House
Went to watch sneaks on the Lake House last night, meaning that I caught it before most of the general population in S’pore. Did not watch the Korean film Il Mare prior to this, so I can’t do any comparison between the two. But yeah, because I haven’t watched romantic movies for so long, was kinda anticipating this and hoping for it to be good.
TJ’s rule # 1 for romantic movies (or all movies in general): there must be a happy ending. To him, if the ending is sad i.e. the protagonist dies/is injured/does not end up with his/her lover etc. then the show will never be great in his books. Hopeless romantic tt guy… but yeah… I don’t really agree, cos sometimes there more beauty/poignancy if the leads do not end up together, but are happier as a result, or it just wasn’t meant to be, but the process was still a most beautiful love story. Rambling in the morning, but I hope you know wat I mean.
My rule # 1 for romantic movies: leave logic out of the window while watching it. If you think too hard, it will never make sense, robbing it of the loveliness. Come on, the mere notion of two people meeting and falling head over heels in love all within the span of 2 hrs should already send alarm bells ringing. Not to mention ghosts who don’t leave cos of unfinished business and end up being brought back to life by the man of her dreams (Just like heaven) or people who can correspond via letters (who does that in 2006 anyway? Use email for goodness sake) and can even send letters back and forth in time over a two-year gap using a mailbox. So leave logic out of the window, and prepare tissues, cos allowing yourself the freedom to feel and experience other ppl’s love story is a sweet awwww feeling…
Haha not bad, throughout this whole entry I did not give away any of the plot that’s not already being overplayed on the trailers. Loved the soundtrack… It just set the entire mood of the movie… Especially the song by Paul McCartney: This never happened before. Simple but beautiful lyrics:
i'm very sure
this never happened to me before
i met you and now i'm sure
this never happened before
now i see
this is the way it's supposed to be
i met you and now i see
this is the way it should be
this is the way it should be for lovers
they shouldn't go it alone
it's not so good when you're on your own
so come to me
now we can be what we wanna be
i love you and now i see
this is the way it should be
this is the way it should be
this is the way it should be for lovers
they shouldn't go it alone
it's not so good when you're on your own

Home Cooked Food
Finally I get my long overdue pictures to post here. Really should get a camera that works, or a phone with a good camera. This looks damn good. And comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, and I can photoblog too! Woohoo! But I don’t think it’ll come cheap, not in the next few months at least. But a girl can dream…

Watched Nacho Libre. Funny show, but it wasn’t as fantastic as School of Rock. Cos let’s face it, Jack Black obviously won’t look as fetching as Brandon Routh in spandex, though I must say that it’s quite a good coincidence that both costumes feature the red and blue combi. I loved the campy soundtrack though, cute and fitted the outrageous Spanish/Mexican accents to a T. But will I recommend it as must-see? Not really. Wait for the (pirated) DVD. Cos there’s no superb special effects in this one that you MUST catch it in a cinema anyway. Next show I wanna catch: the Lake House. Haven’t seen a romantic/tear-jerker since Just Like Heaven. And I must say the house really looks very nice.
After movie we went grocery shopping. Bought frozen cod fish in NTUC, a bargain at less than half price of what you’ll get in the wet markets. Then it was some chocolates, baguette from Delifrance. I went to have a look at the newly revamped Bistro and it’s menu. Madness! A sandwich costs almost 10 bucks now! I might as well top up abit more and go eat real western food at Café Cartel or something.
Why the cod? Well we were preparing dinner at tj’s home since his parents weren’t around. So the menu of the day consisted of:
Cream of Mushroom
Campbell’s Select Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic, diluted with milk. Fresh white button mushrooms were added to give it the mushroom kick.
Bruschetta on Toasted Baguette
Cubed tomatoes tossed with lightly sautéed garlic, olive oil and Italian herbs. Served on Toasted Baguette
Lightly fried zucchini and capsicum
Pan-fried cod fish steak with honey mustard sauce
We had help with this one, but doesn’t make it less tasty as you can tell from the pics. YUM!

Celebrated Daddy’s b’day at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao @ Toa Payoh. Their menu is the older version, less extensive as the outlet in Suntec or Holland V. I also felt that the food wasn’t tt up to standard, but who can really go wrong with Xiao Long Bao right? All in all a great dinner. Happy birthday in advance daddy! (His b’day isn’t until Friday)

the noisy lampshade
realised that i shd add pics to my blog to make it more interesting, then most of the pics will end up being tt of my darling kitty. who's been a pain the the backside recently.
so in the end kinky didn't have to go for stitches, cos his tail healed after cleaning with antibacterial solution and antiseptic powder + 2 antibiotic pills daily. was a bitch to feed him the pills and wash his tail but ok. so it really was getting ALOT better, u can even see the fur start to grow back... happy happy. but since he knows he's getting better, he's making TONS of noise wanting to go out. he still has his lampshade on, and tt's stopping him from squeezing out anywhere... but doesn't stop him from trying, and making a hell lot of noise to get us to maybe open the door for him.
we wanted his tail to completely heal b4 we let him out and take off the lampshade to prevent future troubles...
but alas, the clever and noisy lampshade managed to make his way out this morn, jump into my neighbour's house and happily stayed there until my maid found him, tried to get my neighbour to chase him out, where he happily jumped into the drain, and stayed there...
sigh. liddat how to get well you stupid cat?

i HATE falling sick
ok who doesn't? esp if it's the kind that makes your stomach churn and makes u grasp your stomach, and you can't stand up straight during the sporadic spasms, that makes you wake up in the middle of the nite (almost every half-hourly) just to go toilet to diarrohea. what kind of word is diarrohea anyway? i never really learnt how to spell it.
first tj, then me, then now cha. according to my doc it's some virus going arnd tt attacks the stomach, not sure how true is that. so was on one day MC, just sleeping at home. at least my stomach no longer hurts due to the medicine and also because there is only so much that can make ur stomach churn if you didn't eat anything and have proceeded to diarrohea out maybe 3 days worth of food.
all in all, agony. i HATE falling sick. unless it's the keng kind that i can take MC and feel pretty much ok.

fear to fall
met up with yun and ade to go blading after work. was kinda apprehensive cos 1) i haven't mastered blading properly 2) haven't bladed in a LONG while 3) never bladed in rented blades b4 4) tj (my 师父) wasn't here
so after getting our gear ready and wearing smelly wrist and knee guards, we were off. ade is a natural, she learnt while she was young. yun and me... dun really know how to blade, but she's much better than me... ended up ade and yun were blading far infront of me and chit chatting, while me (the tortoise) is always behind, trying to catch up and trying hard not to fall... so ade and yun kept having to stop periodically to wait for me. thanks babes!
i must say i surprised myself. when blading with tj he was almost always next to me, either holding my hand or just an arm's length away. so while i did manage to blade and move, i never really learnt to fall, or have the guts to trust myself to blade properly. so now tt tj's not arnd, i'm forced to learn quickly, cos now nobody's here to hold my hand to baby me... and let me scold him when he tries to make me go faster... and interestingly enough, it's like this tt i manage to learn faster...
is this how life is? you grow up faster when left to your own resources... tt's why wild plants grow much more luxuriously and healthily, while the sheltered ones in the greenhouse, while beautiful, seem lacking a little life?
perhaps this is how it is. i have to let you go, go out there in the world to find yourself, and in the process, i'll find myself too... and realise tt i'm actually stronger than i think i am, that while i need you here in my life, maybe i also need you away for a while. they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. maybe absence also makes the heart grow...
always had this fear in me... fear of failing, fear of falling... it's time to conquer tt fear, i think.

TGIF
Not in a particularly good mood today. Kinda dreary morning and was like super lack of sleep, guess this is after-effects of the world cup, slept 3 hours tt day, and less than 6 for the rest of the days, so now I’m feeling the effects liao. Good thing is, my boss is on leave today, so can take it easy for abit. But still, taking it easy entails time passing by very very very slowly, unless I do “extra” things like blogging to take up my time. And web-surfing and msn too… oh wellz.
Was on leave yesterday to attend tj’s convo. Pretty fun affair I must say, finally my turn to return the favour after he was so nice last year, helping me take my stuff, going all around marina with me and the gals to be our official photographer (and yes your pics are nice). So this time around, I was the photographer, holding up to 3 cameras at one go, snapping away… quite fun really, but people should just learn to use ONE camera only, then disseminate their photos via email etc. much more convenient than to stand there 3 times longer time to pose, and the photographer having to keep changing cameras. Going to take photos again on Sunday. Shd be fun but no more skirts and give me my comfy birkies anytime!
Well good news, tj’s new job thingie is just about settled, gonna start work on Monday to sign the papers and wat not. But it’s kinda disappointing for me, cos was thinking of going away with him to lovely Sibu for a long weekend before he actually starts work. And now that it’s been brought forward, guess no more beach holiday to laze around and do nothing. Yes he lives near east coast and in theory we could laze around the beach every weekend, but no it doesn’t work that way somehow. But I am still glad for you dear, that all the long wait and uncertainty is finally over, and holidays will always come, guess we can just save that money and it can go towards my new hp + mp3 player fund. Any other contributors are highly welcome. Hehe.
Double good news tdy, just found out my dearest lab partner proposed to his gf! Happy for them!
Shall erm start to try to do some work. All the bosses are not around this morning, making me have very little incentive to do work. But as I said, not doing work is boring. And gosh, it’s only 9 am. So many more hours to go! But at least I’m going blading later. Wish me luck that I don’t fall too hard! Haha.

Cat Pee
Flavour Description of a very cute lip balm:
Cat Pee: A funny name- but a yummy blend of pink grapefruit, orange, & lime.
Sounds good? It smells good too.
Well, what's the occasion for this title? You'll soon find out.
Basically, my very cute cat recently got his tail banged up, he probably got into a fight with another cat, and the bottom half of his tail is now bald, with wounds in it which got infected and stuff, so we bought antiseptic powder, cleaned and bandaged his tail. It got better, so we removed the bandage. Wrong move. Sunday nite (it was raining the entire afternoon) he came back, his tail dripping blood. It was like he was having his period. Yes it was that gross. Worse of all, he had this huge deep gash on his tail. Sigh, the cat that never learns. So we washed it (hearing his cries really make my heart melt, but serves him right) and bandaged it again. And made plans to visit the vet the next day.
After a lack of sleep due to the World Cup, mum, cheryl and i made our way after work/school to bring kinky (my very cute cat) to the vet. the vet was recommended by my cousin, but we've never been there before. so after going round in circles in the back seat of a van with a cat who obviously hates travelling in a car, we got tired trying to calm him down... so i was just stoning, and cheryl was absentmindedly patting him. next i felt a warm liquid on my pants and shirt sleeve. split second later i heard cheryl shout, "ARGH! Kinky PEED!!!" cue jumping out of seat. after which we frantically tried to dry the seat with his towel and newspaper (thankfully we were smart enough to bring some)
Have you smelt cat's pee? It starts off like normal pee smell, then probably because of some bacteria in it, it starts to stink to high heaven after a while, not good if you're in an enclosed van with a semi-deranged cat. and even worse if you have some on your clothes. super gross. and we haven't even reached the vet yet! arghz. so finally we reached the place before cheryl and i suffocated from the stink (my mum refused to wind down the window).
The vet was very nice, he came out to help us get kinky into the clinic. somehow kinky seemed soothed by the vet and his assistants, who were cooing over him, patting him and calming him down. all three were young and obviously loved animals... awww... after examination, he told us that the wound was slightly infected so he can't stitch it up, so we had to take him home, feed him antibiotics and clean the wound regularly to clear it up before stitching. the fee was reasonable and he even lent us a cage to take kinky home! so nice. luckily the place kinda stank already, so nobody noticed (we hoped) that cheryl and i stank of cat pee.
And yes, we went home and i rushed to the toilet to bathe. Gosh I hope we never have to do that again, but sigh, we have to return to the vet on saturday! wish me luck!
